The Spencer Gibson Foundation

The Spencer Gibson Foundation (The Foundation) is a private ancillary fund established by his family in 2015.

Spencer Gibson lived with a quiet dignity, humane insight and sparky dry humour. Established in his memory, The Foundation reflects Spencer's concern for people who have been marginalised or disadvantaged. It keeps alive his empathy for people facing illness or needing special support.

Spencer believed everyone deserves to find their voice, be heard, included and valued. He wanted people to lead fulfilling and healthy lives, unconstrained by their circumstances.

AET PAF Pty Ltd is the Foundation’s trustee and supports the founders in reviewing applications and evaluating charitable partnerships.

Eligible charities can apply for funding via an expression of interest process.

The Foundation encourages applications from eligible charities that:

  • advance research and care for people living with mental health problems, cancer, heart disease or epilepsy.
  • ease people’s access to community life, and spur their growth through education, the arts and creative expression.
  • support people beyond crisis accommodation and into stable long-term housing.

The Foundation accepts applications for funding up to the value of $100,000 per annum and may consider supporting multiple year funding agreements with suitable charitable partners. The foundation encourages submissions that demonstrate matched funding from other sources.

Organisations who complete an expression of interest may be invited to complete a detailed application. The Committee meets between April and May each year. Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their submissions in early June.

Funding decisions are made in line with The Foundation’s focus areas. We suggest you consider the following steps prior to contacting us directly:

  • Step 1: Familiarise yourself with The Foundation’s focus areas and identify whether or not your organisational priorities are likely to align with the Foundation’s broad goal.
  • Step 2: Register your interest by completing the expression of interest form. Please note: Unfortunately, due to the number of enquiries we receive, we will only respond to expressions of interest we believe are aligned with The Foundation’s giving strategy.
  • Step 3: You may be contacted by AET to complete a detailed application form for consideration by the Foundation’s advisory committee.
