Who will manage your affairs if you can no longer make decisions for yourself?
Australian Executor Trustees (AET) works in partnership with financial advisers by providing attorney services.
In many cases, clients value the independence and experience of a statutory trustee, but wish to retain the services of their trusted financial adviser regarding investment matters if they lose capacity.
Our attorney services also extend to clients who, for lifestyle reasons, no longer want to pay their bills or handle their own day-to-day expenses.
Clients and their financial advisers who approach AET for estate planning services are encouraged to execute a Power of Attorney which authorises AET or trusted family or friend(s) to manage their personal financial affairs.
Authority may be given generally, or it may be limited to the occurrence of a specific event, for example, illness, overseas travel or mental incapacity.
Most of AET’s appointments are Enduring Powers of Attorney.
Under an agency agreement, AET is able to provide various personal services in addition to the management of day-to-day finances. This can extend to bill paying, collection of rental income and even the processing of medical or hospital claims on behalf on your behalf.
Again, our services are flexible and provide scope for financial advisers to continue to manage their clients’ affairs, even though the clients may no longer have capacity to make decisions for themselves.
